Cajun/Zydeco Crawfish Festival
May 7-9, 1999
6:15pm
7:27pm
9:30pm
The crawfish and boiler have arrived, and the die-hards will be able to eat in an hour. As decorum dictates, the King will retire for the evening allowing his loyal subjects to revel in the fruits of their efforts.
5:45pm
The grounds are basically ready, the krewe members are beginning to arrive, and the crawfish boiler is on its way barreling down the turnpike... somewhere.
More members of the krewe arrived... and the boiler, as yet has not. It became apparent we better get a beer truck up and pouring quickly. As the krewe walked the new grounds in anxious anticipation-visiting the history tent, standing on the soon-to-be-packed mainstage dancefloor, leaning on the new cable spool tables and crawfish trap ticket booths that they created, and of course, stealing a quiet moment with Sally at her reflection pond, the reality began to sink in. IT was a whole new look, a whole new place, and it was time to start the party.
The beer truck is pouring and, the boiler is still barreling...somewhere, and the krewe is gathering in the Louisiana Swamp Stage tent for a special presentation from Queen Clawed-Eeya and myself. In honor of the hard work to create a full-blown Mardi Gras Krewe, as well as the nation's largest outdoor Cajun/Zydeco Crawfish Festival we hereby present you with your official krewe shirt. And as a futher reward your royal Highnees have decreed a command performance by Filé. And dancing and merry-making ensued.
